Holly grew up in Hartland and recently graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in History Education. In her spare time she likes to express her creativity through sewing, painting or crafting as well as reading and playing with her dog. Holly loves watching movies, historical reenactment, listening to Taylor Swift and going up north to get ice cream. She loves all areas of history and feels so lucky to be teaching what she loves!
Holly's inspiration comes from past experiences in history classes. She had a fantastic history teacher in high school who really shaped how she felt about the past and present, and it inspired her to do the same to a new generation of students. She believes having students be able to make connections from historical events or what is happening today is a necessary skill in order to understand events around the world. Finding new and fun ways to teach history is also an inspiration for Holly, as this makes the skills and knowledge stick a little better for each student.
Holly is most excited to finally have her own classroom! As a first year teacher this is something she has worked very hard towards over the past five years at MSU. Beyond that, she is excited to get to know all of the students and staff at Lakes and become a part of our amazing community.
Holly thinks Catholic schools, such as Lakes, provide great opportunities for students not only to grow in their education but grow in faith as well. "Having never attended a Catholic school in my own education I was really interested in seeing how this growth takes place, and I think that is something I will love in the future", says Holly.
Welcome Holly! We are excited to have you as a part of our staff here at OLL!
