In the wide landscape of girls high school basketball in Metro Detroit, there is a wealth of competitive Class A and Class B programs. Yet, nestled in the outskirts of the metro area, there is a small girls basketball program that has been making a name for itself as a Class D state power.
That program is Waterford Our Lady of the Lakes, which was voted the MLive Detroit Team of the Week. With only 134 high school students, Our Lady is a co-ed K-12 Catholic school that is as small as it gets.
“It doesn’t matter what the size of the school is,” junior forward Kayla Sanders said. “It just matters how good the team is.”
