A short-handed Lakes 5/6 Boys #1 Basketball took control early against Marist on Saturday and held on to win their second straight game 29-25. Down 3 players for the game due to illness, Lakes held 10 point leads at both halftime and at the end of the 3rd quarter.
Lakes received scoring contributions from Dylan Hamel (11 points), Vince Bracali (8 points), Latane Ware (6 points) and Alex Asai (4 points) and evened their record to 3-3 on the season.
Coach Blose commented after the game ” What an incredible game. We were down three players and everybody contributed to this win. I told the boys at halftime to be patient and look for good shots. In the 4th quarter we had multiple turnovers, which I contributed to being tired and allowed Marist to make things interesting towards the end. They boys played so hard on the afternoon and our rebounding was the best it has been all season. Very proud of the defensive effort. We need to work on some areas this week to prepare for our rematch against Our Lady of Refuge this Saturday”.
Lakes plays at Our Lady of Refuge, this Saturday at 8:30 a.m., February 1, 2020.
