Homecoming Week kicks off at Our Lady of the Lakes

Most students wouldn’t come to school on a normal day if given the opportunity. Yet this past Sunday, the hallways, that would typically be dormant buzzed with the activity of students trying to decorate their grade’s hallway. This sounds abnormal, but here at Our Lady of the Lakes, it’s a tradition of spirit week.

There’s really nothing like spirit week. The entire school is alive with a sort of buzz, an electrifying energy radiating off of the students. For this week alone, it’s not uncommon to see students with abnormally colored face paint, or mixing colors and prints that we’d normally avoid. That brings us to our first day; to kick off spirit week, we began with clash day.

From a distance, all of the bright colors and in-your-face prints would make the student body look like extras in an 80’s music video. For once, we don’t have to try and fit in. The more you stand out, the better. In a turn of events, standing out actually makes you fit in.
