Shannon was born and raised in Norway, Michigan which is located in the beautiful Upper Peninsula. She loves going back to visit her family and many of her favorite spots! After graduating high school, Shannon attended Central Michigan university. During her time at Central she was able to achieve a Bachelor’s degree in Education with a major in Early Childhood Education.
After graduation Shannon spent some time as a substitute teacher in the Walled Lake area. Before getting her first teaching job she attended Madonna University and received her Masters in Learning Disabilities. She started teaching 4th grade for 9 years, before moving to kindergarten. This will be Shannon's fifth year teaching kindergarten.
Shannon now lives in the area with her husband and two boys, William (4th) an Matthew (2nd). She is excited to have this opportunity to be part of this community and get to know your children and you better!!
Shannon's faith inspires her to work and grown in her spiritual life but also in her work life. When she was young she had a teacher that inspired her to be better and work hard and that’s what she wants to do for her students. Shannon wants to inspire her students to love God and love learning. Seeing her students grow not only academically but also spiritually inspires her to do the best she can as their teacher.
Shannon is most excited to meet her students and their families. The first couple days of school are new, exciting, and filled with lots of feelings, but she also feels as if it’s the best time for her to get to know her students and her students to get to know her.
Shannon loves teaching in a catholic school because she feels sharing her faith and love for God with her students is extremely fulfilling. She loves listening and watching students talk and live out God’s word each and every day in the classroom. Shannon loves music. She feels that singing praise and worship music is a great way to bring in God’s love into our lives.
We are extremely excited to have you a part of our Laker Community Shannon!
