Lakes 7/8 football won their 4th straight game on Saturday 20-0 against St. Isaac Jogues. After a scoreless first half, a William Burton to Luke Ronquillo touchdown pass put Lakes on the board. Anthony Hoffman recovered the ensuing kick-off and 3 plays later, Robert Hoffman found the end zone from 15 yards out to increase Lakes lead to 12-0. A Leo Wilson 4th quarter touchdown run and Holtie Ware’s conversion increased the Lakes lead to 20-0.
With the win Lakes secured 2nd place in Division C and will host a first round playoff game this weekend. Head Coach Chris Mersino added after the game “the boys played their hearts out and the effort defensively was incredible. Coach Lancaster had the boys well prepared and to keep a tough St. Isaac Jogues team off the scoreboard was impressive”. Mersino added “To sum this up in one sentence: We played Laker football today”.
Lakes will host St. Michael’s this Saturday at 2:00 PM.
