CYO Girls 7/8 #1 Team Make School History

It was quite the weekend for the 7/8 Grade Lady Lakers basketball team, after a year full of lopsided wins the girls had to dig deep to gut out two close victories.

On Saturday, against St. Joan of Arc the Lakers started slow and trailed 15-3 at halftime. They then roared back in the second half to take a two point lead with 7 seconds to go only to have St Joan of Arc tie it up and force overtime. In the extra session the Lakers were able to scrap hard enough to pull off a 30-29 victory.



Sunday the Lakers took on a very good and athletic St. Isaac Jogues team. It was tense, back and forth affair the entire game. In the end, the Lakers prevailed with some key fourth quarter plays and won the CYO regional final 28-24. Brooklyn Robak led all scorers with 17 points on the contest.
The victory marks the first time a 7/8 #1 Girls Basketball team has made a CYO Final Four in school history! They will take on St. Hugo in the CYO Semi finals Wednesday March 8 at 6 p.m. at Warren Immaculate Conception.
