Senior Spotlight: Owen Abbott

Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic School celebrates Class of 2020 salutatorian Owen Abbott. Abbott is a member of both the National Honor Society and National Art Honor Society and his favorite subject is History. He will be heading to Oakland University to study political science in the fall. We asked Mr. Kennedy a little bit more about Abbott:

“Owen is one of the most insightful, intelligent, and politically-aware students I have ever met. He has a real passion for politics, and a wry sense of humor to go with it. I have little doubt that he is the most politically-engaged student at Lakes and frequently stops by my room to talk election news and strategy. When he told me he wanted to study politics, I knew immediately that it was a good fit. He communicates with clarity and precision, which led to him excelling on exams in both AP U.S. History and AP Government. Owen has an incredibly bright future and I can’t wait to see where he goes.“

What’s one thing people don’t know about you?
Either that my first name is actually John or that I go by Owen, my middle name.

What advice would you give to underclassmen??
Learn to be able to balance homework and free time. It makes life easier when you know you have time set aside to do whatever you want.

What will you miss most about Lakes?
Getting to see my friends every day.

What grade did you start at Lakes?
Kindergarten
