In the Fall of 2017, the Our Lady of the Lakes Boosters club met in an attempt to find some positive traction. “This club has a great history, with dedicated members who have contributed countless hours to supporting OLL athletics”, according to Athletic Director Jared Kullman. “When we met in the fall we had a lot to do. We had many positions open, but a great group of people stepped forward to fill them.” This small group got to work immediately, looking for ways to support athletics. Their goal, give people a reason to be proud and remind them, why it is great to be a Laker!
In June, OLL Boosters will be honored as the “Booster Club of the Year” at the annual CHSL Hall of Fame Banquet. This is an honor that is given out to one school each year, honoring a group that has gone above and beyond to support their school through volunteer efforts. Mr. Kullman feels nobody deserves it more. “A new Athletic Director has a lot to get comfortable with at a new school. This is only made easier when you are surrounded by good people. I feel very blessed to have had this group in my first year. We have new momentum, and I see great things happening in the future.”
This group of volunteers may have redefined Our Lady of the Lakes Boosters. They planned and hosted a community trivia night, designed to bring our families together. They sat for 8 hours in the cold and rain on a windy November day to host a test-drive fundraiser. They successfully executed the first Fish Fry that the parish has hosted in over a decade. Because of these efforts, the athletic program saw some much needed improvements, but more importantly, they set an example that has began to inspire more and more Lakers. This month the boosters club will install 6 more members, and it is still growing.
