The Order of Christian Initiation for Adults (OCIA) is a process in which those seeking to grow in an understanding of the Roman Catholic faith come together to explore Catholic beliefs. This process is designed for adults who are thinking of becoming Catholic, for those who know that they want to become Catholic as well as those who have been baptized but have not yet completed their Sacraments of Initiation (Eucharist and/or Confirmation).
The program of Christian initiation begins in the fall of the year and continues through the end of the Easter season. People who take part in OCIA meet weekly on Sunday mornings from the 9:30 Mass until approximately one hour after Mass. We strive to offer an atmosphere of welcome, prayer, education and fellowship. In no way does the OCIA process exert pressure on those who participate but instead allows for the opportunity to contemplate this important decision while learning the teachings of the Church.
Adults, who wish to be baptized, or complete the Sacraments of Initiation, are solemnly welcomed into the Church or into full communion at the Vigil of Easter.
